Preparation & Baking Instructions
- What you need: 1 pack Koopmans Oliebollenmix, 500 ml lukewarm water (38-40°C), optionally 250g soaked raisins/currants, and neutral oil for frying.
- Making the Batter: If using raisins or currants, soak them in warm water for about 15 minutes and pat dry. Put the mix in a bowl, add the water, and mix with dough hooks until smooth. Stir in the raisins or currants with a spoon.
- Rising: Cover the bowl with a damp tea towel and let the batter rise in a draft-free room temperature spot for about 45 minutes. Do not stir the batter after rising!
- Frying: Heat oil to 180°C in a deep fryer or deep pan. Shape balls of batter using an ice cream scoop or two spoons, slide them into the hot oil, and fry for 3–4 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and dust generously with powdered sugar.
