How to Prepare Your Rendang
What you need:
- 1 packet (100g) Toko Lien Boemboe Rendang
- 750g stewing beef, cut into cubes (or chicken pieces)
- 3 to 4 cups of water (or substitute part of it with coconut milk for extra richness)
Preparation steps:
- Combine: Place the cubed beef (or chicken) and the 100g boemboe paste into a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven along with 3 cups of water.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer gently on a low flame, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce & Tenderize: Cook slowly until the meat becomes fork-tender and the sauce reduces into a rich, dark glaze. Add salt to taste, and serve warm alongside a bed of steaming white rice.
